DAMAGE TOLERANCE CHARACTERIZATION OF MATERIALS AND STRUCTURES (BIM-15)
Evaluation of materials or structures damage tolerance is not an easily codify-able and standardized test procedure, especially when it does not determine materials impact properties through biaxial impact tests and Charpy or Izod tests. In fact, to assess damage tolerance of materials or structures, it needs to configure and run ad hoc testing, which depends both on the final application, both on legislative framework and test procedure used.
Another critical aspect is linked to the certification of these test methods in sectors with higher added value, such as aeronautics and transport in general.
CETMA has developed an extensive know-how for damage tolerance characterization of materials and structures for various sectors.
