LAMINBOARD WITH RECYCLED POLYMER MATERIAL (BIM-23)
CETMA owns know-how that offers solutions to the probleem of polymer-based materials recycling, typically sent to landfill or to low quality applications. An example is plastic in municipal solid waste or car fluff of cars. Poor quality of these materials but especially poor repeatability in terms of physical/mechanical characteristics make very difficult to recycle them with economically sustainable production processes.
Expertise developed by CETMA allows to offer high added value solutions for such materials, with economically sustainable production methods and low environmental impact.
This know-how, in particular, relates to materials, processes and properties for laminated panels production with polymer based recycled materials, where with "laminated" we refer to a succession of layers of virgin composite material and recycled material suitably arranged.
CETMA know-how is about:
- Robust design criteria (lay-up, type of composite material and thickness of layers) compared to the recycled material used: it is possible to introduce recycled materials with non-repeatable characteristics and poor mechanical properties, which, thanks to an appropriate stratification and selection of the virgin composite material, affect mechanical characteristics of the panel in a negligible way;
- Production process in which times and phases are minimized in order to make the solution applicable where high production volumes are required.
Knowledge developed by CETMA make possible to propose high added value solutions for recycled polymer materials, with economically sustainable production methods and low environmental impact.
The solution can be used for applications in building, furnishing, and transport, with particular reference to automotive sector.
