CETMA hosts the kick-off meeting of the project RE4, Thursday, September 15
New solution to mitigate the environmental impact of construction Reclycled materials for prefabricated elements from the demolition of buildings
Thursday, September 15 CETMA, center of excellence in research which is based in the area of the Citadella della ricerca of Brindisi, will host the kick-off meeting of RE4 project funded by the European Commission under the Programme for research and Innovation Horizon 2020. the RE4 project - "Reuse and Recycling of CDW materials and structures in energy efficient prefabricated elements for building refurbishment and construction" - will run for 42 months and intends to develop new technology for precast elements with high component of recycled materials and reused structures arising from the demolition of buildings. The primary objective of the project is to develop energy-efficient buildings in order to mitigate the environmental impact of the construction industry.
RE4 is in fact the first major project funded research and development within H2020 coordinated by an Apulian Research Centre and therefore constitutes a new success for the CETMA of Brindisi that for twenty-two years now continues to confirm its growing international dimension, thanks to its ability to organize and coordinate with great professionalism, dedication and passion this scale European projects.
On the occasion of the kick-off meeting on September 15, CETMA will host 12 companies from across Europe who will discuss the theme of sustainable construction: ACCIONA INFRAESTRUCTURAS SA, CBI Betonginstitutet AB, CDE GLOBAL LIMITED, Creagh CONCRETE PRODUCTS LIMITED, FENIX TNT SRO, THE QUEEN'S UNIVERSITY oF BELFAST, Roswag ARCHITEKTEN GESELLSCHAFT VON ARCHITEKTEN MBH, STAM SRL, STRESS SCARL, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, VORTEX HYDRA SRL, ASSOCIATION DES CITES ET DES REGIONS POUR LE RECYCLAGE ET LA GESTION DURABLE DES RESSOURCES. The partnership, coordinated by CETMA and composed of 12 partners from 7 European countries and one non-EU country (Taiwan), therefore, has a strong industrial connotation with the presence of 4 SMEs and 3 big Enterprises, supplemented by specific scientific and technological competencies of 5 organizations for research and development of international importance and 1 association.
the meeting will start the project activities through sharing and detailed planning of the activities.
The RE4 project focuses on a new concept in design and production of building components such as to be easily assembled and disassembled for reuse, containing up to 65% by weight of recycled material and facilities from the construction and demolition activities. The building components made in this way will be suitable both for new buildings and for renovation of existing buildings. The demonstrator design of the building will serve to test the solutions developed and support the project dissemination activities. The demonstration will be carried out in Spain and Ireland to validate the concept in different climatic conditions.
